The world re-known "Wells Gray Guest Ranch" is located 27km north of Highway 5, B.C.'s most traveled tourist route, approximately half way between Jasper and Vancouver. The Ranch is surrounded by the mountains of Wells Gray Provincial Park and it is the trailhead for about 100 km of trail through the park's rugged and protected wilderness. The Ranch owns a ten year renewable Park Use Permit to use these trails for their riding operation. The 135 acres of pasture and hay land easily support up to 35 horses although the ranch right now only owns 20 solid trail horses including tack & equipment which are needed for the trail riding operations. Also part of the ranches holdings is a lease on 90 acres inside the park on the banks of the Clearwater River with an old romantic trapper's cabin. This area is used for fishing excursions and as a base camp for our multi-day horse pack trips.
There is also an exclusive guided day canoeing and hiking permit within Wells Gray Park in place and Park & BC Backcountry Recreation Licenses to permit guided dog sledding and snowshoeing. The included equipment consists of 5 canoes and equipment, 4 ATV's, 11 aluminum pairs of bear paw snowshoes, about 14 - 16 Canadian Eskimo Sled Dogs and 4 dogsleds incl. all necessary equipment.
The company also owns a 2005 F150 Ford Crew Cab with Canapé, economical and ideal for picking up customers or grocery and supply shopping. Payments on this truck have to be made until July 2009. There is also a 1994 four horse trailer in very good condition and a newly rebuilt utility trailer used for garbage removal.
The Ranch consists of the main house housing upstairs 2 rooms with a shared bathroom which are now used to accommodate visitors but can be used for owners/managers living quarters and the managers office, furthermore the kitchen, breakfast/dining room sitting 24, front desk and gift shop and the famous "Black Horse Saloon" sitting 60. Attached right to the west with view of the pastures is our patio, beer garden and the circle of covered wagons surrounding the BBQ area all together sitting 100. Our BBQ's, Gang hold-ups and live Country Singers are very popular with bus groups on their to and from world famous Helmcken Falls (3rd highest waterfall in Canada)
The four log cabins house ten rooms with twin/double or queen beds, shower & WC, coffeemaker, tea kettle & fridge, 6 of them with en-suite kitchenette, all of them with view of the pasture and the hills behind. Further accommodation possibilities offered are 4 Tipis and 6 rustic bunkhouses sleeping 4 - 8, 5 RV sites and tent sites for approx.60. A shower house and two BBQ shelters support the camping area. Further buildings are two large barns, one small shoeing barn and three utility buildings. There is also a horse arena, round corral, two staging corrals, a catch corral and a saddling corral.
