Casa Picaflores is a newly renovated rainforest inn situated on 5 acres of lush rainforest. The property boasts at least 25 varieties of tropical, organic fruit and nut trees (mango, lime, acerola, two kinds of starfruit, lychee, soursop, banana, rompe-culo, grapefruit, parcha, coconut, almond, loquat,etc), gorgeous tropical flowers(bird of paradise, ginger, lobster claw, orchids), several small streams and a small mountain river. The structures on the property consist of:

A free-standing full bathroom next to El Bohio, used by Bohio visitors and hot tub users.
A large, free-standing workshop/toolshed;
Tiled, covered, outdoor semi-private hot tub area, also used for massages with a local massage therapist;
Children's playground area with slide and swingset.

The entire compound is separated from the road by a chain-link fence, and a remote-controlled electronic gate. The guest house sits up about 50 yards from the road, which is barely visible from there. The other buildings are tucked away out of site in the woods and plants above the guest house.

We currently rent out the guest house (3 BR/2 BA) for $175 per night, breakfast not included. Breakfast is offered for an additional charge, as are optional dinners (see our website for our lodging specials and catering rates). The casita (currently under construction) will rent for $45-70 per night (breakfast not included). The current owners' cottage could probably be rented for about $125/night during peak season, and around $100 off-season, if the new owners preferred to live in the nicer of the two houses.

Casa Picaflores is located down the mountain from El Yunque National Rain Forest Preserve, the only rain forest in the U.S. National Forest system. Our guests generally come to take an all-day guided hike in the rain forest, enjoy a gracious, elegant quiet home base during their stay, and to visit the many attractions of the eastern end of Puerto Rico. These include the bioluminescent bay in Fajardo, the beaches of Luquillo and Fajardo, snorkeling, catamaran trips out to the cays off of Puerto Rico, as well as the ferry dock for travel out to Vieques and Culebra. We are also close to watersports such as surfing and kayaking, as well as charter fishing, casinos, golf, horseback riding, hanggliding, and skydiving.

Access to Casa Picaflores is via a very good, near-empty highway stretching from Fajardo to Humacao. Without traffic, we can leave Casa Picaflores and be at the cruise ship pier or airport in San Juan in 55 minutes. A Sam's Club is located just off this highway, in Humacao, about 15 minutes' drive from the property. Pueblo, a large, American retail grocery store chain,
is located near this Sam's Club. Much closer, in Naguabo, is another, smaller supermarket with the best bread around. A gas station with convenience store is approximately five minutes from the house, near the Post Office, in the town of Rio Blanco. Another convenience store is about 2 minutes away, in the town of Florida. There are few good restaurants on the east end of Puerto Rico, which means that guests often wish to dine (and drink) in El Bohio instead of driving long distances at night in unfamiliar territory.

The property is offered for sale fully furnished; all linens, kitchen supplies, furniture, dishes, and artwork on display will convey with the property. Furthermore, all tools, power tools, and appliances will convey. This includes a new, 6.6 kV diesel generator with a transfer switch, a 40-gallon solar water heater, pressure washer, trimmers, table saw, and assorted other power tools. Basically, we plan to leave with two suitcases each and the dog.
