Dolphins In My Backyard
Posted by Willie Jones
Living on the water definitely has its perks, like the daily morning ritual of dolphins swimming in groups chasing their breakfast near the sea wall. I never get tired of seeing that. These mammals have been a source of inspiration and the object of our fascination and affection throughout history. Who doesn't like dolphins?
Living on the water definitely has its perks, like the daily morning ritual of dolphins swimming in groups chasing their breakfast near the sea wall. I never get tired of seeing that. These mammals have been a source of inspiration and the object of our fascination and affection throughout history. Who doesn't like dolphins? When you go to Sea World, you wouldn't think of missing the dolphin show. After all, most people don't live on or near the ocean so when presented with the opportunity to see them, such as in a zoo, we flock to the exhibit and children and adults alike spend extra time enjoying their antics. We had our grandchildren visiting recently and early one morning we went out back to see the marine life. The children climbed down the ladder when they saw the dolphins coming near. To our delight, the dolphins stopped their hunting and took turns coming right up to the children to stop and observe them. They were so close to each other they could have touched them. This went on for several minutes while the children shrieked with joy. They were as interested in the children as we were of them. These animals are intelligent, beautiful and a never-ending source of fascination for us. My first experience with them was in Hawaii while I was out on a boat. About 20 minutes out we became aware of about 100 dolphins surrounding the boat and swimming with us. It was fantastic. They are for me a source of inspiration and I hope they are for you too.
